Deep Cleaning
Sometimes, our gums get diseased to the point where bone loss begins to occur in a condition called periodontal disease. According to the CDC, nearly half of American adults have periodontitis. Drs. Crandall and Rooney will look at your x-rays, gum measurements, and overall condition to determine if a deep cleaning is necessary to prevent further bone loss and disease. It is important to address periodontal disease in the early stages, as it has been linked to heart conditions, diabetes, and even Alzheimer’s, amongst other conditions. Please schedule an appointment to be screened for periodontal disease.
Cleaning & Routine Care
We encourage everyone to be seen for a regular cleaning twice a year! The cleaning appointment will allow our excellent hygienists to remove any plaque/tartar, polish your teeth, and take any necessary diagnostic x-rays. The doctors will then have an opportunity to evaluate those x-rays and screen for diseases, including dental cavities. They will also perform a thorough oral cancer screening that is inclusive of the head and neck area. We also screen for high blood pressure, diabetes, and other health conditions by reviewing your medical history, discussing diet, and taking blood pressure regularly. Most important, we would love to address any questions or concerns you may have and give instruction on oral hygiene to help prevent future disease!
Kids Dentistry
We love having children in the office and hope that everyone in your family is a part of our family! We see kids of any age, typically having them come around 2 years old with mom and/or dad on their first few visits to get familiar with the dentist and what happens at cleaning appointments. Our hygienists do excellent interacting with children and making sure they feel comfortable with everything we are doing.
We offer preventative exams, cleanings, dental sealants, x-rays, fillings, extractions, and even Invisalign to some teenagers. We also provide fluoride treatment for kids after their cleaning appointment as a preventative measure against cavities. Please ask for more information on fluoride, dental sealants, or anything else regarding our care for kids!
Mouth Guards or Splints
For patients that are constantly grinding or clenching their teeth, have wear facets on their teeth, or chronic headaches, our doctors will evaluate to determine if a mouth guard or splint is needed to address these issues. Be sure to bring to your doctor’s attention if you feel like you clench/grind your teeth or if you get chronic headaches.
